COVID-19 has had a profound impact on the world. Many businesses across America are now struggling to stay afloat as quarantine enters its third month in some states. You need money to keep your doors open, but you can’t do that without customers. There are alternative solutions to help you through these tough times when you rely on businesses like InSource Insurance Group.
Midland Children’s Rehab Center
InSource nominated several of our non-profit customers for a chance to win a $10,000 grant from Liberty Mutual, which is one of our partner carriers. One of our nominations was for Midland Children’s Rehab Center in Midland, TX, and they received the grant. This grant was presented after the coronavirus outbreak and allowed our agency to nominate nonprofit organizations of our choice that needed monetary assistance.
MCRC helps children and families with disabilities of every kind. Due to restrictions placed on medical facilities by the outbreak, MCRC was forced to shut down temporarily, which prevented in-house visits with families and children they work with. These children need assistance every day to keep their bodies and minds progressing. A few days without physical therapy and counseling could set their progress back tremendously.
MCRC has done what we have all done and used their services remotely. Communication is only one of the challenges they face, though, as some of their practices can only be done effectively in person. The burden of care now solely rests on the shoulders of the children’s family members. They have to rehabilitate and maintain the positive attitude of these children with less guidance than before, and during a crisis, no less. Most of these families can’t afford health insurance or healthcare to assist them with these challenges, so being able to help these families remotely is a great opportunity.
MCRC will use the funds from the grant to help with equipment and protective items to provide outbound services to the homes of these children. They will also be able to develop home videos and training modules for families to follow remotely. We are overjoyed that we could help such an amazing nonprofit organization that profoundly impacts our community. We are thankful for the gracious contribution from Liberty Mutual and their ability to contribute further than what insurance can offer.
